We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Chef to join the catering team at a well-established residential nursing home in Co. Mayo. This is a rewarding opportunity to positively impact the daily lives of older adults through high-quality, nourishing meals served in a warm and caring environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, prepare, and serve nutritious, well-balanced meals that meet residents’ preferences and specific dietary requirements.
  • Work closely with the healthcare and care teams to adapt meals for individual dietary needs (e.g., diabetic, low-sodium, pureed).
  • Lead kitchen operations including supervision of catering staff and managing daily workflow.
  • Maintain high standards of hygiene and cleanliness in compliance with HACCP and food safety regulations.
  • Monitor stock levels, ensure efficient inventory control, and liaise with suppliers as needed.
  • Participate in menu development and innovate based on current trends in senior nutrition.

Essential Requirements:

  • Proven experience working as a Chef, ideally within a nursing home, hospital, or similar healthcare setting.
  • Strong knowledge of dietary needs in older adults and experience preparing specialised meals.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with a team-oriented attitude.
  • Passionate about making mealtimes an enjoyable and comforting part of each resident’s day.
  • Certification in food hygiene and HACCP (or willingness to obtain).
