Job Description
Nuvo Healthcare Recruitment are currently seeking compassionate and dedicated Social Care Workers for our client in Co. Waterford. In this vital role, you will support children and young people through person-centred care, education, and behavioural support, working in line with national care standards and individual care plans.
Position: Social Care Worker
Reports to: Social Care Manager/Deputy Manager/ Team Leader as required
Salary: €37,440 - €41,184
Key Responsibilities
Assessment & Planning
-
Contribute to Behaviour Support Plans (BSP), Individual Crisis Management Plans (ICMP), and Placement Plans

Support the implementation of Care Plans tailored to individual needs
Educational Support
-
Deliver 1:1 and group learning sessions for young people not engaged in formal education

Assist with homework, assignments, and other academic tasks
Care Provision
-
Participate in residential activities as per assessed needs
-
Deliver daily care aligned with individualised plans
Documentation & Communication
-
Record young people’s progress using internal systems
-
Liaise with supervisors, families, and external professionals
Teamwork & Development
-
Engage in team meetings and support training for new and relief staff

Attend mandatory and ongoing professional training
Health, Safety & Leadership

Support a safe home environment, both physically and emotionally

Take on leadership duties in the absence of a Social Care Leader
Household Responsibilities

Participate in household tasks such as cooking, cleaning, and vehicle maintenance
Confidentiality & Ethics

Uphold the company’s values, policies, and confidentiality at all times

Adhere to whistleblowing and safeguarding procedures
Essential Qualifications & Skills
-
Minimum Level 7 qualification in Social Care or a related field that meets CORU registration requirements

Relevant alternative qualifications may include:
-
Psychology (Level 8), Counselling/Psychotherapy, Youth Work, Applied Behaviour Analysis, Social Sciences, Early Years Care (for U12 centres), Teaching, Nursing, etc.

Full, clean manual driving licence valid in Ireland

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Experience working with young people exhibiting challenging behaviour

Familiarity with the Irish National Standards for Children’s Residential Centres
