About the Role:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and dedicated Clinical Nurse Manager (CNM) to join a well-regarded residential nursing home in Moycullen, Co. Galway. This is a key leadership role focused on ensuring excellence in clinical care, regulatory compliance, and operational effectiveness.

The successful candidate will bring a deep understanding of gerontological care, strong clinical expertise, and a proven ability to lead, mentor, and support nursing teams. This position is ideal for someone passionate about delivering high-quality, person-centred care in a supportive and progressive environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Clinical Leadership & Care Management

  • Coordinate and oversee clinical care delivery within the HSE-contracted area of the home.

  • Mentor and guide nursing and care staff to uphold best practices in line with HIQA and HSE standards.

  • Monitor residents’ health, update care plans, and implement interventions in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.

  • Ensure safe and compliant medication management procedures.

  • Lead ongoing clinical improvement initiatives to enhance resident outcomes.

Regulatory Compliance & Quality Assurance

  • Ensure full compliance with HIQA regulations, HSE contractual obligations, and relevant health legislation.

  • Lead internal audits and prepare for external inspections.

  • Develop and maintain policies to support safe, effective, and person-centred care.

  • Maintain up-to-date and accurate clinical documentation and reports.

Staff Management & Development

  • Oversee nursing staff scheduling, ensuring optimal skill mix and coverage.

  • Participate in recruitment, induction, and professional development activities.

  • Conduct performance evaluations, provide constructive feedback, and foster continuous learning.

  • Cultivate a positive, respectful, and team-oriented work environment.

Resident & Family Engagement

  • Serve as a key point of contact for residents and their families.

  • Ensure open, empathetic, and effective communication.

  • Address concerns promptly, promoting dignity and individualised care.

  • Lead the development and review of resident-centred care plans.

 

Essential Qualifications & Experience:

  • Active registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).

  • Minimum of 5 years’ post-registration experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership or supervisory capacity in a care setting.

  • Strong knowledge of HIQA standards, the Health Act 2007, and HSE nursing home requirements.

  • Proven experience in gerontological care and managing the complex needs of older adults.

  • Excellent leadership, organisational, and communication skills.

  • Proficiency in quality improvement, risk management, and incident reporting.

  • Competent in the use of electronic health record systems (e.g., ViClarity, Epic Care, Strandum).
