Job Title: Senior Psychologist (CDNT)
Location: Athlone
Hours of Work: 35 hours per week, 6 months tenure with possibility of extending further
Role Overview: We are seeking an experienced Senior Psychologist to join our client's Children’s Disability Network Team (CDNT) for a 6-month period. This role is an exciting opportunity to work as part of a multidisciplinary team, providing psychological assessments and interventions to children with complex needs and their families. The successful candidate will play a key role in developing and delivering evidence-based interventions, supporting service users through collaborative, person-centred approaches, and ensuring compliance with best practices and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver high-quality psychological services aligned with best practices.
- Carry a clinical caseload appropriate to the role.
- Conduct psychological assessments, using appropriate tools and data sources.
- Formulate and implement psychological therapeutic interventions based on individual needs.
- Provide clinical supervision to psychology staff and trainees.
- Participate in case planning, multidisciplinary reviews, and care coordination.
- Ensure the ethical and professional delivery of psychological services.
- Use evidence-based research to support clinical practice.
- Conduct service evaluations, audits, and research projects to inform service development.
- Participate in professional development initiatives and contribute to policy improvements.
- Provide clinical training and supervision for psychology trainees and other professionals.
- Offer training and consultation to staff across a range of agencies and settings.
- Ensure continuous professional development (CPD) and compliance with regulatory standards.
- Comply with all health and safety policies, child protection guidelines, and HIQA standards.
- Act as a Designated Officer under the Protection for Persons Reporting Child Abuse Act 1998.
- Support sustainable health and safety initiatives in the workplace.
- Oversee the co-ordination of service delivery within the designated area.
- Contribute to budgetary control, strategic planning, and service evaluation.
- Ensure compliance with data protection, Freedom of Information, and reporting protocols.
Key Requirements:
- Relevant Psychology Qualification – A postgraduate qualification in Clinical, Counselling, or Educational Psychology, accredited by the Psychological Society of Ireland (PSI) or an equivalent recognized qualification.
- Minimum 5 Years’ Post-Graduate Experience – At least two years of which must be post-qualification experience as a professional psychologist.
- Experience in Child Disability Services – Candidates must demonstrate competence in working within the CDNT model, meeting the needs of children with disabilities and their families.
- Excellent Communication & Interpersonal Skills – Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team and liaise with families, caregivers, and external agencies.
- Clinical Supervision Experience – Ability to provide clinical supervision to junior psychologists and other staff members.
- Knowledge of National Policies & Best Practices – Understanding of relevant legislation, HIQA standards, and HSE policies governing disability services.
- IT Proficiency – Ability to use electronic health records and reporting systems.
- Full, Clean Driving License.
